Buying jewelry can be considered as a guilty pleasure for some people, however, if you purchase at 31 Bits, it becomes just a pleasure, with no guilty! Because every time you make a 31 Bits purchase, you have a direct impact on women’s lives in Uganda. You are literally changing the life of many women and their families.
“Our customers are changing people’s lives through their purchases. 31 Bits is part of a movement revolutionizing the way people do business.” 31 Bits Team
What’s 31 Bits story?
Our classmate, Kallie, had just gotten back from a life-changing trip to Uganda. She met women who grew up in a war and had nothing. They were single moms with no education and no job, and they were our age. OUR AGE. Our lives couldn’t look more different.
What the women lacked in education, they made up for in skill and resourcefulness. They were making incredible jewelry out of old posters. Kallie brought a box of the jewelry back, and we fell in love instantly. We sold the jewelry to friends and ran out within weeks. That’s when it hit us. These women had a skill, but needed a market. We lived in dorms and apartments filled with people who would love this stuff! Together, we could make a business.
What is 31 Bits purpose?
Our program equips women by providing literacy education, financial and vocational training, holistic care, and strong support systems, empowering individuals to further their careers and attain social equity. We didn’t want to be just another charity selling key chains and t-shirts. We were determined to create a fashionable product that women would buy because they actually liked it. These women needed a lot more then a paycheck. They needed education, health care, and counseling. They needed to be cared for physically, mentally, and emotionally. They needed a way to be whole again.
31 Bits started by selling at school events, craft fairs, and home parties. They’d tell their story to anyone who would listen. Eventually they started an online store and a wholesale program. Now they’re in over 300 stores and have shared their story with hundreds of thousands of people.
“31 Bits was born to help rehabilitate a war-torn region. To help empower the most disadvantaged women. To return hope to families. And these amazing ladies have done it. Their stories will move you to tears, make you thankful for the sheer magic that is the human spirit, and bring so much joy into your heart that you’ll realize you’re clutching your hand to your chest just to feel it beating, and you didn’t even notice that you put it there.” Says Sophia Bush.

Customer Maria Pacios first heard about 31 Bits through Sophia Bush, she is a huge supporter of everything Sophia cares about.
All the accessories are marked by fresh colors and crisp design. Their accessories are carefully crafted by hand and made from recycled paper. Yes, PAPER!
I couldn’t help but visiting their website and learn more about how they started, how they do what they do, and the people behind the company.
I’ve ordered a few bracelets past June, and the delivery was very fast! In a few days, my order arrived and I just can’t stop wearing and rocking my favorite accessories ever since!
31bits is definitly one of my favorite companies and I am going to purchase some new goodies soon.
